Daniel Freyne

Pushing the limitations of my material, I am an artist with the creative drive to excel in craft and produce intriguing metal work of the highest quality.  Having been trained as a blacksmith, I received an in-depth knowledge about iron, particularly in the context of forge work.

Through my work, I aim to demonstrate the limitless potential of contemporary craft by changing the viewer’s perspective of ‘what’ a blacksmith is.

By embodying a likeness to ceramics, my exam project ‘Perceive’ explores my aim to challenge the perceptions of Materiality and Craft. In connection to that, this vessel is also symbolic of my acquired knowledge and the conflicts within my artistic identity.
