I Was Here.

Installation of 3x3 meters,

forged steel, acrylic paint

A memorial for the next of kin.

My work talks about the value of what is there. The time spent existing is a universal truth we all have in common, the living and the non-living. The repaired and worn down gets polished over time. The environment we live in lives with us but does not die when we do. Past over from generations to generations, the memories of those who have been there before us enrich our lives.

The objects are made to capture this message.

Several of these objects are placed in a square. Yellow from the inside red from outside. Together they construct a space. a deconstructed room/space where only our traces are left behind. In the middle of the room stands a small stool in the shaped like a house symbolizing what is gone. I would like to ask you to take a seat.

The symbol of the hook.

Next time you see one of these hooks. In your favourite bar in an old student dormitory or at a public bathroom. Look at the scratches it has left the wear it has. Think about how long it has taken.
